Who We Are
CEEGSA is an organization run for the students, by the students. We strive to build a welcoming, connected community for all graduate students in the University of Alberta’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department—providing a space where you can make a genuine difference, find support, and give back.
We proudly represent graduate students across the eight core research groups in our department: Construction, Environmental, Geotechnical, Mining, Petroleum, Structural, Transportation, Water Resources.
Whether you are navigating the demands of your thesis, setting up your lab experiments, or looking to connect with peers outside of research, CEEGSA is here to support you throughout your academic journey. Our motto is "The sky is the limit." As engineers, we build things, and our limits reach beyond what we can see.

Fall Kickoff 2026
This is our first event of the academic year, designed to welcome newcomers and reconnect with returning students. It's always a fantastic time filled with games, great food, and open conversations where we share ideas and experiences.
It is the best way to connect with your peers, academic advisors, and fellow graduate students. It’s all about food, fun, connection, and enjoying the start of the year together.

New space for Grad Students Only
As per the feedback from grad students, the Faculty of Engineering and CEE department has decided to designate a space on NREF 6th floor for grad students only. Please feel free to contact the CEEGSA team for any further queries.
Book a Study Room
Need a space to conduct meetings related to coursework, TA sessions, and research! Follow the procedure mentioned for booking your preferred space.
